Community Tute 07 - Cross reference data
Cross reference two tables, find records on one table and display data from a matching record on an other.
1. Start Access and open the database we created in the last tute, select the 'Queries' tab and then hit the 'New' button. If you did not compete the last tute you can download the database
2. Add the 'ImportData' and 'Main Tables' to the query (double click on their names).
3. Create a link between the two tables by selecting 'FirstName' in the 'Main Table' click and hold on the left mouse button and drag and drop in onto the 'Name' field of the "ImportData' table. Double click on the link to see the link properties, leave them as they are.
4. Add the fields as shown below (double click).
5. Save the query as 'Crossref tables'.
6. View the output of the query.
7. Main database view, you may need to hold the shift key down when opening a database to see this view (prevent the autoexec macro from running).
